Stress Management
Stress Management
Work-related stress or challenging life transitions can take a toll on our physical, emotional and social wellbeing. Covid 19 has created additional anxiety and uncertainty which can show up as anger, frustration or exhaustion. Attending to underlying thoughts and feelings, as well as putting in place strategies to manage stress can assist us.
Depression and Grief
Depression and Grief
Depression and ongoing sadness often lead to feeling 'stuck' and unable to find joy in life. The pain of loss can also feel overwhelming. Talking therapy provides a way of processing grief and sadness, and adjusting to a new way of being.
Relationships
Relationships
Whanau/family relationships can be challenging, particularly when coping with life stressors and parenting issues. A solution-focused approach can assist caregivers and whanau to navigate these challenges.
Anxiety
Anxiety
Anxiety and excessive worrying can seriously impact quality of life. Counselling can help, including with OCD, social anxiety and self-image issues.
Help for kids
Help for kids
Anxiety, anger, grief and a poor self-image also affect tamariki and rangatahi. Counselling aids in understanding emotions and responses, and building resilience.
Group Work
Group Work
I offer group sessions for schools, churches and organisations on topics such as; managing grief/loss (all ages), and the Boundaries Course, which helps adults build or rebuild relationships based on healthy boundaries. Facilitation of other types of wellbeing sessions can also be arranged, according to needs.

Client Feedback
Client Feedback
"Nicola, from the very start, has provided a safe environment, and focused on my issues with competence and warmth. I never felt like I couldn't share something and the sessions really helped with my problem. I would recommend talking to Nicola 100%!!"
"Before counselling, I couldn't control my worries and it was very scary. I would start getting a very sore tummy and it made me very sad. I learnt how to control my worries, calm down and stop my tummy aches from hitting so hard. Now I can control my worries and tell my worries to go away..."
(Child client)
"Counselling was definitely useful for me because it made me aware how resilient I am, resourceful, to improve myself."
"Nicola recently worked with my 10 yr old daughter who was unhappy and anxious about the world around her. Nicola helped my daughter by giving her a comfortable space to talk, practical tools to manage herself and the support to push through and overcome her fears. We are impressed at what was accomplished in such a short time and are truly thankful to Nicola for helping our family."
"When Nicola contacted me on the first day, I was an emotional wreck. I couldn't finish a sentence without breaking down. Her approach, empathy, understanding and counselling has saved me - especially the art of writing down all my fears on paper."
"Nicola's counselling gave me back the determination to work through my troubles. She gave me the necessary tools and motivation to use them."
"I have been blown away by the changes in my 6 year old daughter since we started seeing Nicola. She created a safe and nurturing space where my child was quickly able to express herself. My daughter's confidence has blossomed and she has been empowered to take charge of her anxious feelings. The tools Nicola has taught her will be lifelong. I am extremely grateful for the support and guidance we have received from Nicola."
